"Hi! My name is Bonny Mahajan. I'm a Computer Science major (senior!) at UT.
I came into college almost convinced I'd really want to pursue a PhD immediately after school. Consequently, I dove straight into any CS research opportunities I could find. Over the last 3 years, I've had the good fortune of doing some great work with some fantastic professors and students. But, I also found my way into the industry and fell in love with how products were being built. Today, I've diverged a lot from the person who walked into the Gates Dell Complex for the first time almost 3.5 years ago.
Through all the challenging nights and times I walked to class like a dazed zombie, my time at UT has helped me discover how much I love working in the industry and building products that (in small ways and overtime) change how people lead their lives.
Authenticity in tech, to me, is the process of slowly uncovering what works for you and why. It also means giving yourself time to explore and not being too hard on yourself when you change your mind about things along the way. Most of my greatest discoveries about my interests came out of trying out new things on a whim. Don't be too hard on yourself if you can't exactly pinpoint what works for you - give yourself permission to explore and fail. I'm rooting for you, so many people are :)"
