Growing a Powerful Community

I’m Indhu Gunda, a first year Electrical and Computer Engineering student at the University of Texas at Austin. I often feel disheartened by the low numbers of girls in my classes- however, finding a community of like-minded individuals has really encouraged and motivated me to continue to pursue what interests me. I’m a strong believer that the environment and community you surround yourself with plays a significant part in defining your aspirations and the limits to what you can accomplish. It’s hard to dream beyond what you see is possible in the community that you interact with on a daily basis. However, surrounding yourself with a diverse, empowering, and supportive group can help you grow as a person and pursue goals that you think impossible at first. I’m looking forward to the Re-sonate Convention because it provides the opportunity to accomplish this by meeting some great women, empowering us to take on whatever life throws at us, and becoming stronger because of it.
